Mobility Solutions for Business on the Go

The explosion of mobile technology is transforming our society and nowhere is it more apparent than the workplace. Not that long ago, you had to choose between being on the road to do business or staying back in your offices to take that call, wait for that important email or even stay late to get that last piece of important work done.

However, with the latest mobile technology, you can access all your relevant business tools and services at the touch of a button. From laptops and smartphones to RFID and Wi-Fi, mobility is now essential to remain competitive in an ever-changing business landscape and instant access to nearly everything we need is now taken for granted.

As a small or medium-sized business (SMB), you will want to choose solutions that offer mobile integrated connectivity, so that everything will ultimately work together and you can get the most out of your IT investments. The benefits to SMBs are increased productivity, speed of getting business done and improved communication with your clients, suppliers and colleagues.

Stay mobile - stay connected

“Business on the Go” means that you need to access documents while you are at a client meeting, you may need to get an e-mail response from a client or supplier while out and about, even place an order online for your customer while onsite. It could also mean that you can sync up the calendar on your smartphone with the calendar entry your colleagues have made for you back at the office.

There are a number of mobile devices that allow you to do all that. However, as a minimum, you should consider mobile devices that allow you to :

  • browse the Internet (via WiFi) and 3G
  • access contacts & calendars
  • read your e-mails
  • communicate via voice, fax or text

You can choose between a variety of devices:

Laptops are getting smaller, more powerful and portable by the day. You can choose between Windows or Apple-based machines depending on which applications you are using in the office or which you are most familiar with.

Smartphones and PDAs such as the Apple iPhone, Blackberry, but also the latest Nokia and Sony Ericssons. Many offer 3G Internet connectivity, e-mail via fetch or push technology, some even allow faxing of documents, and of course your calendar and contact directories. With many smartphones, such as the iPhone, you can also expand their built-in applications with free or low-cost productivity applications. In the case on the iPhone, you just download new applications via the iTunes on-line store.

Cloud Networking

The main goal is to use solutions in the office and on the go that integrate. This innovation is “Cloud networking” or “cloud computing”, which allows users to tap a vast network of computers that can be accessed from long distance by a mobile phone, laptop or other mobile device for information or data.

As long as the client device has a suitable internet browser, it will be able to access applications in the cloud.

The hottest hardware right now is the Netbook — the low powered, mini-laptop with a 10-inch screen and shrunken keyboard pioneered by Asus and copied by Acer, Dell and other vendors. These devices are ideal for accessing applications in the cloud: They are lightweight, portable and very cheap.

Software solutions like Apple’s Mobile Me, are also of interest to small businesses. It is a mail, contacts, calendaring and web photo gallery service, offered from the cloud, similar in scope to Google's online offerings or Windows Live. Mobile Me is targeted at individuals and small businesses to access cloud applications. You can use your Apple Mac, Windows PC and iPhone on the go to access this and other cloud applications.

Mobile Connectivity - any time, anywhere.

Limephusion believe that once small businesses embrace mobility solutions they will start seeing almost immediate increases in their employees productivity. People will be less tied down to their laptops, and have the freedom that comes with a productivity device that fits right into their pocket. In addition, devices that offer integrated communications are a convenience that is so critical for people that are traveling.

Limephusion understands that the latest business requirement is to stay connected and we can help you choose solutions to stay connected - any time, anywhere.
